Select Strategies and Resources | Instructor: Tonya A. Melvin-Bryant Select Strategies I select Enhanced Virtual model. This model is best for a web development course in that students are provided an introduction to topic material and then the students will work online to complete web pages. As a part of direct instruction, student will also complete short labs during class that will contain code for which they can use in their online assignments. Select Resources Technology and Media. This lesson involves the continued use of Moodle course management, CCU research host server, text companion website, and Weebly.com (for honor students), and w3schools.com. Also used is a file transfer tool, Filezilla, for which they will transfer files to their hosting area on the CCU research host server. The following guidelines help me assess the appropriateness of my technology and media selections:
Alignment with standards, outcomes, and objectives. The software provides the necessary tools for my students to meet the learning objectives.
Accurate and current information. The students will use w3schools.com to use current programming standards when programming websites.
Interest level and engagement. The software applications provide features that enable the students to customize their environment to match their daily computer use.
Technical quality. The software applications have superior technical quality. Students must have reliable Internet connections away from school.
Ease of use. The applications require initial training and periodic review of functions for students to easily use the features. Tutorial videos are provided.
User guide and directions. The online help features of the software are easy to use. Students most frequently ask each other and the teacher for help with technical difficulties. Also, because the school’s IT department must set up the hosting server, they are available for technical help.
Select Materials This lesson includes labs that are created to help students build to a completed project. Additional assignments are provided to help students prepare to complete a semester-long web project.
