I met with the faculty member who used Zybooks in another course to answer questions concerning setting up Moodle and adding grades from Zybooks assignments. I contacted our platform representative to discover that the feature to connect Zybooks to Moodle is not currently working. This will require instructors to pull reports in Zybooks and transfer grades. Another concern was how to format weekly content so students will know where to find assignments. I reminded instructor that all content will be located on the One Drive and if they had suggestions for content or format that they should let me know.
The following items will be added to the on-boarding guide:
Requesting the advanced COOL template from Mooodle
Configuring items to show/hide in the advanced COOL template
Instructions for grade reporting in Zybooks and file storage format
Faculty suggestion survey (using Survey Monkey)
August 28, 2018
I completed the general configuration for Zybooks and confirmed that all class sections were visible. I also added teacher's assistant access and sent student access information to all faculty. I began development of the on-boarding guide as I configured the chapters and added assignments. I had two meetings with our platform representative since there were differences in the book that was not discussed in the webinars that I attended.
Since I created the first week's assignments for faculty, I asked them to test whether they could obtain a grade report. Also, I asked that they now begin creating their own assignments for the upcoming weeks. I received the following feedback from faculty concerning Zybooks (to be discussed in our Sept. 12 meeting):
Faculty wanted to confirm that they should be able to see all faculty assignments
Concern that grading report only stored zeroes for students who were enrolled during a grace period
Faculty wanted instructions for configuring attempts allowed for assignments
General feedback that the faculty does not like the Zybook labs available in the book (hard to configure)
Requested more content strategy assistance - how to present weekly material in lecture and lab and when to require assignments (participation versus challenge assignments)
