Standards Curriculum – ABET, recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, provides assurance that a college or university program meets the quality standards of the profession for which that program prepares graduates. Department standards: Student will be able to demonstrate an understanding of creating multi-page websites that utilize text, styles, and graphics. Students will use simple graphic editing and HTML coding to publish web pages. Web development software will be mastered to render web page information and provide accessibility to a variety of user skills. Technology – The department of computing sciences requires that all students in technology-based courses have a laptop computer with wireless capability and setup to access the University’s network. Students are required to bring laptop to class every day to increase productivity and assignment submission and to ensure sustainable learning. Lesson Objectives
Students will be able to demonstrate ability to express reflective thinking on a lesson topic by posting a response to a leading question such as, “Why would a web developer use CSS styles over HTML style attributes when designing a web page?” The student will also show collaborative ability by replying to posts provided by peers.
Lab: Using their CCUresearch web server account, students will create a web page using graphics and HTML code based on topics in a lesson.
Project: The students are provided graphics and semi-complete code, for which they will add code to complete a web page. The students are shown a final copy image of the web page to use as a guide. This web page will be stored on the students CCUresearch web server account. Honor students registered for the course will complete the same exercise and also create a duplicate of the exercise using Weebly.com.
